Revopoint has launched the Miraco Plus, an 8K color 3D scanner the company says is meant for “large objects”, and boasts a 20% accuracy boost when compared to other devices in the Miraco range.

To do so, the Miraco Plus leverages an “upgraded calibration board” and “photogrammetric metrology kit” – a system that measures and models 3D objects from photographs using digital reference markers and “global optimization algorithms”.

The Miraco Plus is also faster than other Miraco scanners, Revopoint says, with scanning speeds of up to 20 fps, captured via a 48-megapixel RGB camera. “Near” and “far” modes respectively allow for more detailed or larger scans, meaning the Miraco Plus should still perform as an all-around device, in addition to its large-object capability.

Features like infrared optical zoom (both 1.5x and 2x) and a six-inch touchscreen round out the device, which costs $1,799 – a price on which buyers can net a 10% discount during the presale period, which runs from today until September 18, when it will officially go on sale.
