Over the past few years, 3D scanning technology has become more accessible to the masses. With the rise of compact, high-precision 3D scanners on the consumer market, hobbyists and frugally-minded makers can harness the power of a 3D scanner in the palm of their hands.

Revopoint, a popular 3D scanner manufacturer, has emerged as a trailblazer on the handheld 3D scanning market. Boasting high-end features that were once reserved for commercial use, Revopoint has developed a range of affordable scanning devices made for everyone from students to hobbyists.

Founded in 2014, Revopint has made a name for itself by prioritizing performance, portability, and ease of use in its 3D scanning hardware production. Following the release of the POP 2, a handheld 3D scanner designed for general use, Revopoint homed in and improved its precision with the MINI 3D scanner.

Now, the manufacturer is going bigger and bolder with the Revopoint RANGE, a 3D scanning system engineered for capturing large objects.

Now on Kickstarter, Revopoint RANGE is taking the performance from previous Revopoint 3D scanners and, as its name suggests, expanding the range. Crowdfunding backers will have the opportunity to access early bird pricing. After the campaign, the retail price of the Revopoint RANGE will vary somewhere between $700 to $1000.

Revopoint RANGE Delivers High-End Features and Tremendous Versatility

Compared to other consumer-grade 3D scanners on the market, the Revopoint RANGE has an edge when it comes to scanning large objects at a lower price point. Combining its versatility with sizable objects with usability and high precision, this 3D scanner is ideal for any user looking to bring larger than life things from the physical world into the digital realm.

Equipped with a high-powered projector and precise optical design, the RANGE can capture higher resolution 3D data. It utilizes a projected light pattern that brightens captured 3D data, improving the signal-to-noise ratio and ability to scan objects at longer distances.

Revopoint RANGE utilizes a large single capture range that expands its FOV for higher scanning efficiency. While the scanner works indoors and outdoors, Revopoint recommends trying to avoid direct sunlight when capturing objects.

Texture mapping has been greatly improved to ensure captured 3D data matches the liveliness of the actual object. With the RANGE, users can capture 3D objects in color and directly transfer them to a 3D design software or 3D printer.

The scanner itself projects invisible infrared light, which is entirely eye-safe, which means that users can scan humans and other living things without causing harm. In fact, Revopoint RANGE is designed to safely capture 3D data from a human face or body. From there, the 3D scan can be utilized to measure body dimensions, perform fitness assessments, or make customized wearable items.

This 3D scanner is also ideal for sizable objects like statues and architectural designs. Users can also leverage the RANGE to scan automotive parts and furniture with high resolution and in colored textures. Other uses include cultural artifacts, VR/AR, reverse engineering, video game design, gifting, and much more.

Like other Revopoint 3D scanners, compatibility is another selling point for the RANGE. Users can sync the device with their smartphone, tablet, or computer. Revopoint’s complimentary software, Revo Scan, is easy to use and provides access to more advanced settings, if necessary.

At 210g, the scanner is incredibly lightweight and offers low power consumption, allowing users to utilize this highly portable scanner indoors or outdoors. All you need is access to a single USB cable to enable power and data to flow into the device.

Revopoint has a range of accessories that are compatible with the RANGE, including the Large Turntable, which can hold objects up to 200 kg in weight, and Handheld Stabilizer.
