Revopoint has announced the launch of the MetroX 3D scanner, a handheld device that leverages both multi-line lasers and full-field light.
The scanner has four modes, each optimized to capture different types of objects ranging from small to medium sizes.
A Cross Lines mode uses 14 blue lasers for dark or shiny surfaces. In Parallel Lines mode, seven parallel blue lasers work to capture fine details or complex surfaces.
The Full-Field Blue Structured Light mode can create point clouds at up to 7 million points per second. Finally, the Auto Turntable can help boost scan accuracy and precision while automatically scanning small objects.
Accuracy indeed is also a main USP here, with Revopoint claiming the device is “metrology-grade,” and capable of up to 0.03 mm accuracy and 0.01 mm precision.
A Kickstarter campaign will launch on October 15, during which time “super early bird” backers can pledge $649 – 35% off Revopoint’s stated $999 MSRP – for the scanner as a backer reward. Check the MetroX’s product page on Revopoint’s website for details.
