Shapeways, a 3D printing marketplace and service company, has launched its E-commerce Integration on Etsy.
“Our mission in launching the Etsy E-commerce Integration is to create a seamless experience for the entrepreneurs using Shapeways,” explained CEO Greg Kress. “Small business owners are already juggling multiple hats, and we are excited to help make Etsy Shop Owners’ lives easier by enabling them to seamlessly grow their businesses and helping current Shapeways’ customers not currently on the platform expand their customer base by offering a new place for them to sell their designs.”
If you’ve never encountered Etsy before, it’s a treasure trove of trinkets. The e-commerce website was founded in 2005 in Brooklyn, New York. It is focused on handmade items and especially useful for finding thoughtful, personalized gifts.
Etsy E-commerce Integration Charges 5% Transaction Fee
By partnering up with Shapeways, which is also based in New York, the two companies can provide shop owners with an easier way to manage their orders.
Shapeways explains that it’s simple to set-up and only requires shop owners to download API plug-in so it can take over on fulfilling the ordering, manufacturing, and shipping on demand.
In fact, Shapeways already offers e-commerce integrations via Shopify, the Canadian e-commerce company.
To use the Etsy E-commerce Integration, Shapeways charges a 5% transaction fee when a customer places an order.
Ultimately, the integration aims to take away the admin of running a shop and give entrepreneurs more time to spend focusing on aspects of their business that they enjoy.
“Before the Etsy E-commerce integration, it took 5-6 minutes to place an order for my Etsy customers,” said Ola Shektman, the owner of the popular Cityscapes Rings shop. “This integration is magic, orders are placed automatically so I can spend more of my time working on new ideas and designs.”
