Siraya Tech has launched Fibreheart PET-GF, a new filament made of 15% glass fiber.

In addition to the strength boost the glass fiber content should provide, the manufacturer says the material boasts UV and heat resistance – the latter of which can be improved by annealing– and low rates of moisture absorption. It’s also highly dimensionally stable.

All told, Fibreheart PET-GF is well-suited to “outdoor and industrial use”, Siraya Tech says, specifically naming drone parts, tools, and functional prototypes as potential applications here.

Users will need to consider a few factors before making a purchase, however, as the material isn’t the easiest to work with. For instance, you’ll need a printer with a “sealing box” (we assume it means an enclosure) to ensure the machine can reach the appropriate printing temperatures, as well as a nozzle that is “hardened steel or higher grade”. You can find a complete list of minimum specs on Siraya Tech’s website.

While it’s currently sold out on Siraya Tech’s website, you can grab a 1 kg spool on Amazon for $48.99. It’s available in one color – “Flat Dark Earth” – a brownish hue that Siraya Tech describes as “military-grade”, further pushing its positioning as an outdoor material.
