Digital manufacturer Snapmaker has announced November 8, 2022, as the launch date for the Snapmaker J1 IDEX 3D printer. The machine will eventually cost $1,399, but preorders will start at $1,099.

The J1 arrives with a slew of new features and innovative solutions that the company claims will make 3D printing more robust. The founding members of Snapmaker designed the new printer after nearly a year of research and development.

Snapmaker J1’s Independent Dual Extruders (IDEX) have been redesigned to be ultra-fast. They are claiming maximum print speeds of 350 mm/s. For improved productivity, it will also have various print modes, including copy, mirror, and backup.

J1’s body comprises an upper frame and base made from one-piece die-casting and aluminum alloy bars, minimizing wobble and distortion while ensuring higher stability with high-precision linear rails.

The all-metal hot ends, meanwhile, will be capable of temperatures up to 300 °C. They “are perfect for handling various high-temperature materials, including nylon, reinforced nylon, and PC.” Dual direct drives ensure that the J1 prints seamlessly with flexible materials such as TPU.

The Snapmaker J1 will be available on Snapmaker’s official store from November 8, 2022. While you wait for the J1 to launch, check our list of the best dual-color 3D prints.
