Sovol 3D has announced a larger version of its SV07 3D printer, aptly called the SV07 Plus. Other than an increased build volume of 300 x 300 x 350 mm, the machine doesn’t seem to be very different from its smaller sibling.
Both printers, Sovol says, can reach max print speeds of 500 mm/s, boast dual-gear direct-drive extruders, all-metal, high-flow hot ends, as well as 25-point auto-leveling, triple-fan cooling, and a dual-sided PEI build plate.
The SV07 Plus also runs full-fledged Klipper, controlled by way of a five-inch touchscreen. This will provide users with a lot of options (input shaping and pressure advance, for example) but it’s worth noting that we found the regular SV07 underwhelming during testing – marred by what appears to be firmware difficulties that rendered networking unusable and bed meshes that wouldn’t save. Of course, all of this could be addressed once the Plus releases, but we suggest tempered expectations.
The SV07 Plus will release on August 29 at 11:59 am EST. At that time, a select number of early-bird units will become available, starting at $319 – a substantial discount off its $499 MSRP – and work up in price as units sell.
