Sovol has released a new variant of its popular SV06 “MK3 clone” 3D printer: the SV06 Ace.
The standard SV06 was released last year and was our pick for the best 3D printer under $300 (it now costs $179) until the Flashforge AD5M replaced it. A big part of that change was the SV06’s lack of automatic Z offset, which the Ace remedies.
Both the SV06 and SV06 Ace have the same 220 x 220 x 250 mm build volume, but overall the Ace looks to be a step up from its predecessor in terms of speed, build, and premium features.
For example, the $279 Ace, which is Klipper-based and open-source, features a claimed top printing speed of 600 mm/s, compared to the 200 mm/s of the SV06. However, Sovol recommends capping the Ace’s speed at 300 mm/s and the regular SV06 at 80 mm/s.
The Ace also features an “upgraded” metal frame and metal bearings, and features and functionalities like resonance compensation, pressure advance, anti-vibration compensation, a filament sensor, and a “high-flow fan system” – all of which up the Ace’s game.
It’s worth noting there’s also a Sovol SV06 Plus, which retails for $259. It features a larger build volume, a touchscreen, and a 150 mm/s recommended print speed. That machine may be worth a look, especially if you want to go bigger.
See Sovol’s website for more information about the Sovol SV06 Ace and the other machines in the series.
