Stratasys just announced a new resin 3D printer that will debut at its booth at the 2025 Rapid + TCT event in Detroit, April 8 – 10. The Neo800+ is the company’s latest addition to its Neo laser-based stereolithography lineup, which includes the Neo800 and the Neo450.
Stratasys says the Neo800+ delivers “up to 50% faster throughput” and “up to 50% faster build speeds”, compared to the Neo800, which Stratasys acquired from 3D printer manufacturer RPS in 2021.
The faster build speed is an impressive development. It’s do to some new laser control tech called ScanControl+. This new laser and optics system supports what the company calls “high-energy materials” offering precision part production and superior surface quality. Stratasys says it’s internal studies showed that ScanControl+ can improve time-to-part by 39% on average and by as much as 44% or more on applications, such as tooling molds dependent on materials used. Better accuracy leads to less post-processing leading to a lower total cost per part, the company argues.
The news from Stratasys implies that the Neo800+ opens up possibilities for more industries to use resin 3D printing, whereas before they may have turned to FDM for large parts, specifically calling out wind tunnel testing. The point seems to be to position the Neo800+, with its 800 × 800 × 600 mm build volumen, as a better option for industrial prototypes and parts that need a smooth, injection-molding-like surface finish without sanding or other smoothing.
“Engineered with precision and performance in mind, the Neo800+ is designed to meet the growing demands of industries like automotive and aerospace, where high-speed production and flawless part quality are critical,” said Rich Garrity, chief business unit officer at Stratasys.
Debuting alongside the new printer is a new material optimized for it. The Somos WaterShed XC+, engineered specifically for the Neo800+, delivers optically clear parts with a smooth finish ideal for applications in automotive, aerospace, and consumer electronics.
Following developments in the industrial FDM sector that rely heavily on sensor data to improve reliability, the Neo800+ features “collision detection” and real-time environmental monitoring.
If you’ll be at Rapid + TCT this April, attend the launch of the Neo800+ on April 8, 2025, at 3 p.m., featuring Yoav Zeif, CEO of Stratasys, and representatives from Rivian Automotive.
