A new feature-packed firmware drop for the Original Prusa MK4’s first birthday adds touchscreen functionality.
They finally did it. The boffins at Prusa Research have gotten with the times and enabled the touchscreen on the MK4 (and, by extension, MK3.5/3.9) 3D printer. This means you now have the choice between twiddling the 3D printed knob or tapping and swiping on the printer’s display.
A post on the Prusa Research blog cautions users not to expect a smartphone-like experience, although it does offer exactly the opposite of this caveat in a swipe-left-to-go-back gesture. We’ve flashed it, and it’s everything we hoped for. Two thumbs up.
There’s a lot more to firmware 6.0.0. We’ll be following up with a detailed post soon.
