The Elyarchi Alcheman 3D printer was heavily advertised when it was first launched on Kickstarter, notably for its five-bay “Vooooo” multi-material system and ability to print with “specialty filaments” like PEEK.
With a week left on its campaign – one that has already well exceeded its modest $1,675 goal – the Alcheman is a fully enclosed machine with a 300 x 300 x 300 mm build volume. It’s Kickstarter claims the printer is capable of speeds up to 500 mm/s, and comes with a 90 °C heated chamber, 130 °C heated bed, and 450 °C hot end.
With an MSRP of $1,399 for the standalone 3D printer, or $1,649 for the printer and Vooooo, the machine is priced at just $100 less than the Bambu Lab X1C and Combo, respectively. In fact, there’s a lot here that resembles that machine – and, by proxy, Elegoo’s much more affordable Centauri Carbon, which is one of many X1C lookalikes that have recently popped up on the market (although that particular model of printer doesn’t have multi-material support).
All told, the Alcheman is making quite a few bold claims, not the least of which is its ability to print with PEEK – a notoriously tricky material to work with – and one that may not have a lot of consumer-friendly applications.
Still, that hasn’t stopped previously released printers from trying; take the Wisthink, for instance, which was once a Kickstarter curiosity that seems to still be available for purchase. So, perhaps there’s a hungry enough market there.
Should all go to plan, the first units of the Alcheman will begin shipping in June, with “Super Early Bird” pledges still available for $701, or $952 with the Vooooo. You can find full specs and details on its Kickstarter page.
