A new desktop vacuum former has hit Kickstarter, and is claiming “industrial-grade” power.

My Yard’s Formart S is a 502 x 464 x 312 mm machine with a molding area of 260 x 168 mm. It claims 90 kPa suction strength, with pressure settings that can be set between 10% and 90%.

A carbon fiber quartz heater heats up “three times faster than other models on the market”, My Yard claims, while a wooden CNC baseplate works to absorb less heat and result in better-quality molds.

The Formart S arrives with presets for 17 materials, including PET, HIPS, TPU, and LDPE. Users control the machine via a knob and 3.5-inch color LCD screen. There, they can select either of the device’s “Simple” and “Advanced” modes, which respectively offer easier-to-use default forming parameters and access to more-involved settings such as heating and pressure.

Safety-wise, My Yard says, a “dual-lock frame” securely grips plastic sheets required for forming. It also leverages magnetic clamps for improved tray stability. All told, this makes the vacuum former the world’s first to be “certified for household appliance safety”.

After less than 24 on Kickstarter, the Formart S has already surpassed its (admittedly modest) $5,000 goal, with packages starting at $699. For full specs and more information, check out the Formart S crowdfunding page.
