With its March 2 release, TitanCraft is set to disrupt the likes of Hero Forge’s popular service – and signals that the tabletop-mini 3D printing space is heating up.
On the surface, TitanCraft is very similar Hero Forge, which ran an extremely successful Kickstarter campaign that ended in early 2020 for “Hero Forge 2.0”, raising more than $3 million to fund its full-color custom miniatures. Both services, for example, offer in-house 3D printing services and STLs of miniatures. Hero Forge, however, puts more emphasis on 3D printing in-house and shipping miniatures to buyers, with TitanCraft geared more toward user creation and DIY prints.
TitanCraft also diverges from Hero Forge in its business model. Whereas Hero Forge operates on a subscription or pay-per-download basis, TitanCraft offers packs of outfits and items. Once purchased, users can use those assets on characters, of which they can export unlimited STLs for free, forever, without a subscription. In this manner, users can create custom monsters, kitbash parts, and combine unlimited characters into single scenes, using “CAD-like” advanced pose tools to take customization up a notch.
“Our business model means players can create and print their characters in a variety of poses or mounts without having to pay for each one, and DMs can create a huge amount of NPCs, villains, and monsters without breaking the bank,” creator Andrew Stockton told All3DP.
TitanCraft has been in open beta for several months – March 2 marks its official release – offering both individual models, which start at around $10, and packs, which start at $15 and go up to $150. You can find the specifics, and get started making miniatures of your own, on TitanCraft’s website.
