What a week, what a week. Not only did Bambu Lab finally release its H2D, which we’ve got covered every which way with multiple reviews and a breakdown of what’s new, but now a leak purporting to show an as-yet-unannounced device with xTool and Snapmaker co-branding has appeared on Reddit.

The image, allegedly taken from a WeChat group, shows several 3D printers in a factory environment. One thing we can identify is a toolchanger mechanism, with four spools of filament split two-by-two on each side of the machine, and a bank of parked toolheads at the rear of the build volume.

The outer shell is clean and white – on brand for xTool’s current multifunctional devices like the M1 and M1 Ultra, which offer interchangeable tools for various forms of 2D making. The build volume on this device looks more like your standard ~250x250x250 mm than the typically larger volumes we’ve seen on similar devices.

That’s about as much as we can glean from the picture. The most telling aspect of all this is how the “leak” was brought to our attention – the PR we assume to be responsible for this mystery machine (and subsequently confirmed to be working for one of the two names involved) told us about it, and that we’ll be learning more soon. Subtle.

Snapmaker has been quiet on the hardware front for some time, with its Polymaker co-branded PolyDryer being the last notable thing we can recall coming from the company, so for a potential big release like this to be on the horizon would track. That, plus xTool’s seemingly bottomless resources to pursue creative tech gives some legitimacy to the image and what it appears to be showing. This year alone, we’ve seen apparel printing and metal fabrication tools break cover from xTool. It was only a matter of time before it turned its attention to 3D printing, and this could be it finally happening.
