No matter what project you intend to create with your engraver, there are certain aspects that are universally expected out of a machine. A laser engraver should offer a high-degree of accuracy and speed, should be relatively easy to operate, and ensure the safety of the end-user.

The manufacturer xTool has specialized in the desktop-sized laser engraver and cutting field, constantly innovating upon its hardware and offering accessories and add-ons to complete each customers’ workshop.

Building off of the success of the base xTool D1 model, the new xTool D1 Pro is flush with major feature improvements, enhanced specs, and a bounty of accessories to customize the laser engraving experience. Let’s explore some of these features and see what the manufacturer has changed in its latest laser engraver.

xTool D1 Pro Laser Engraver Has Power, Speed, Accuracy, and More

The heart of any laser engraver is the laser power, and xTool has strengthened this aspect with its latest pro model. The most powerful version of the xTool D1 Pro comes equipped with a 20W diode laser, enabling higher accuracy and speed than the previous iteration. Users can also opt for the 10W or 5W laser diode model, depending on their engraver needs and budget.

The power of the 20W diode laser enables this engraver to cut cleanly through 10mm basswood and 8mm black acrylic in one single pass. To create this high-powered laser, xTool compressed four 5W diode laser beams into one. This upgraded laser allows the xTool D1 Pro to reach an engraving accuracy of 0.0004 inches and repositioning accuracy down to less than 0.0007 inches.

Leveraging the latest FAC technology, the xTool D1 Pro offers better cutting capabilities, higher speed, and finer details.

A strong laser and sturdy foundation ensures professional-level accuracy and precision on nearly any material, from wood to metals. The 0.08 x 0.10mm (20W D1 Pro) ultra-fine compressed laser spot creates incredibly fine details for both engraving or cutting jobs. Compared to other engravers on the market, which typically present a laser spot of .15 x .15, the xTool D1 Pro offers a major upgrade in terms of accuracy and quality.

xTool D1 Pro also boasts a major increase in engraving speed, topping out at a whopping 400mm/s without sacrificing quality or accuracy. The high-powered laser makes it possible for the xTool D1 Pro to engrave quickly and efficiently in half the time of other engravers. In other words, creators and business owners can increase productivity by more than 200%, saving time and money with each endeavor.

Users can leverage the expanse of a 430 x 390 mm working area and maximum engraving height of 50mm, which can be further expanded upon utilizing risers.

With the high-powered 20W model, this engraver can cut cleanly through various wood materials, acrylic, and much more. It can also properly oxidize and bring color to metals, ensuring high quality detail on some of the most difficult materials to engrave.

While speed and accuracy are surely noteworthy features to mention, ease of use is another important factor that marks the xTool D1 Pro as a major upgrade. With easy focus adjustment, the laser can successfully focus onto the material surface in five seconds. Users simply have to pull the focus level and slide the laser slider to focus the laser module. The focal length can also be easily adjusted to ensure that the thickness of specific materials is accounted for. Adjusting the focal length will ensure the engraver has the optimal cutting capacity for each project.

There are a number of new and improved safety features to ensure the surrounding environment is kept safe and sound. The xTool D1 Pro is equipped with an emergency stop function that triggers when a fire or smoke is detected, as well as when the engraver is off-balance.

xTool offers its own proprietary XCS software for project file management and more, while the machine itself is also compatible with LightBurn. Engraving file formats that are supported include NC, BMP, JPG, PNG, DXF, and others.

Finally, the xTool D1 Pro is built to last. Built with an all-steel wheel and shaft offers a much longer lifespan, allowing for over 100,000 slides during constant use. There is also a closed synchronous belt that is easy to tighten and ensure smooth operation for each project.

xTool D1 Pro Accessories Allow for Expansive Experience

There are two color options for the xTool D1 Pro: Golden Red or Metal Grey.  You can choose between the 20W, 10W and 5W laser. Aside from the enhancements made to the engraver itself, there are a vast range of accessories and add-ons that complement the xTool D1 Pro.

Here’s an overview of the accessories that are compatible with the xTool D1 Pro:

  • RA2 Pro: This 4-in-1 rotary attachment is a versatile attachment that will greatly expand the capabilities of the xTool D1 Pro. It can be used as a Roller Rotary, Chuck Rotary, Sphere Rotary, and Ring Rotary. From wine glasses to custom jewelry, the RA2 Pro increases material compatibility and enables users to customize a wide range of objects
  • 1064nm Laser Head: For those who want the ability to engrave fine details into metal and plastic materials, xTool is offering an even more precise 1064nm laser head that can be attached to the D1 Pro. This laser head is especially useful for engraving delicately sized designs into rings, bracelets, and other jewelry items. It also further reduces burn marks when engraving in plastics.
  • Air Assist: The xTool air assist device blows away debris and smoke during the engraving process. It also protects the laser head from contamination, extending the overall lifespan. How does it work? The device uses air to reduce the temperature of the material surface while it’s being engraved or cut, preventing distortion or discoloration that comes from high temperatures. In turn, air assist enables smoother lines, improved pattern detail, and cleaner surfaces. It offers a steady output power of 30L/min and has a low working noise, so it won’t interfere with the surrounding environment while the machine is in use.
