YouTuber Chuck Hellebuyck, known for the “Filament Friday” YouTube channel, yesterday on Twitter accused 3D printer manufacturer Geeetech of stealing his e-leveler design and selling it via their website.
Many Twitter users were quick to jump to Hellebuyck’s defense, with David Tobin, Executive Producer of the 3D Printing Nerd YouTube channel, which currently boasts nearly 600,000 subscribers, tweeting:
“I sent an email letting them know that 3D Printing Nerd has ended our relationship with them, and all products have been set for removal from 3DPN studios.”
“Did they really think people wouldn’t see this? The nerve they have to blatantly rip it off. So short sighted to not realize the damage they just did to their reputation. Unless they make this right I will never touch their products ever,” tweeted @The3DMisprinter.
While it is not clear whether Hellebuyck’s design was patented, the two designs are, at first glance, undeniably similar.
