New reality television show sponsored by Intel, America’s Greatest Makers, offers creative hopefuls the chance for fame, fortune and glory.

“America’s Greatest Makers” is a new reality TV show where contestants compete for a $1 million prize while showcasing Intel-powered technology. Specifically, makers must use the new Intel Curie system-on-a-chip (SoC) for small form-factor gadgets. The tiny SoC is designed for wearable tech, and includes a 6-axis sensor, battery charging circuits, and 384kB of flash memory.

Partners in the project with Intel are United Artists Media Group and Turner Broadcasting System. The presenter will be Mark Burnett, known for titles such as Survivor and The Apprentice, and the series will hit screens in early 2016.

The series will follow the tears and the tantrums of various makers as they embark on their dream projects. Contestants can enter as individuals or as part of a team. 3D printing is just one of the technologies to be spotlighted over the course of the show. And with a chip as small and innovative as the Curie, the potential for innovation is high. 

Interested in participating? Calls for casting are now open. Submissions require a written application, a brief video describing your idea, and an obligatory “fine-print” signature. Oh, and you also have to be a legal resident of the United States, and aged 15 years of age or older. If you haven’t begun constructing your grand opus, don’t fret. They will also be accepting makers who don’t yet have a working product.

With an incentive like $1 million, America’s greatest makers are going to be falling over themselves to participate. Following each individual and team as they progress from design to production should also make for some television magic.
