Brooks Running, HP and SUPERfeet are teaming up to bring runners the perfect personalized running shoe using 3D scanning technology.

Much like Cinderella, runners will soon have the ability to find a shoe that fits them perfectly. With a “singular focus on running,” they’re designing shoes for your feet and no one else’s

It works like this: Brooks offers their research in runners’ biomechanics. Then, HP applies their 3D foot scanning software, FitStation technology. This unique hardware provides “dynamic gait analysis and foot pressure measurements.”

In fact, FitStation creates a “one-of-a-kind holistic digital profile” of an individual’s foot. This combines personalized fit, biomechanics, and experience.

Finally,SuperFeet’s headquarters in Ferndale, Washington, US manufactures the footwear.

“…The ability to give an individual a personalized shoe based on his or her unique biomechanics is a game changer. It is a compelling offering for the runner who is interested in tip-of-the-spear technology and a totally tuned experience,” says Brooks CEO Jim Weber.

FitStation Provides Runners with the Perfect Shoe

In the creation of personalized shoes, Brooks Run Signature will play a large role. Their research shows that we should not “fix” a runner’s flaws but work with them.

HP’s FitStation then works on this idea and builds a digital profile based on their 3D foot scanner.

“FitStation by HP is changing what personalization means—from the in-store experience to the final product…Digitalization of biometric data opens an opportunity to ultimate individualization with the speed and cost efficiency of mass production… creating individualized products that are available to anyone— from casual runners to elite athletes,” explains Ed Ponomarev, general manager of FitStation and business development HP Inc.

Superfeet manufactures the footwear using a DESMA polyurethane injection-molding machine. Based on foot pressure measurements, movement analysis, and personal preferences, they create the personalized midsole.

“This is the beginning of the individualized fit revolution,” John Rauvola president and CEO of Superfeet adds.

Got your attention? Then, stay tuned because the first performance running shoe will be available next June 2018. Check out the participating retailers’ list to find out more.
