CoCreateX is a community of makers who help each other out online. But its founders are now hitting the road to inspire school kids and locals with a bus decked out as a mini innovation center.

CoCreateX is a community which has the simple yet extremely positive mission of helping others with their endeavors. Their tag line is: help and say thanks. Currently, the CoCreateX Facebook page has over 1,500 members.

However, rather than staying in the virtual world, the CoCreateX founders decided to hit the road. They’re now inspiring communities throughout the US who may not have access to the latest technology.

So, with their trusty bus, the three founders are touring the country in style, taking their MakerBot Replicator + with them and allowing locals to climb onboard.

Nick Powley, Mac Cameron, and Trevor Laughlin are the founders of CoCreateX. They call their bus the “mobile innovation center.” During the first trip, they went from Minneapolis to Boston.

“We stopped at a middle school in Concord, Massachusetts and packed the bus with kids to talk 3D design and printing. There’s so much possibility and opportunity in youth, our job is to deeply inspire students so that feeling of possibility extends long into adulthood,” explains Powley.

CoCreateX is Driven by Community

As well as the MakerBot Replicator+, the bus also holds computers and workspace. It is able to fit in multiple people working on their latest project ideas.

The momentary incubator hopefully inspires locals with the latest technology but also with the new knowledge of the larger community. As a result, the founders hope that the people they meet continue creating and making.

They’re big believers in the idea that everything you possibly need to start your latest creative project is in the community around you. It’s all about tapping into that resource and connecting with people who are willing to help.

However, besides the bus, the founders provide true inspiration themselves. By helping out on projects they were interested in, they were able to land product design jobs from large brands.

For example, Cameron came up with the idea of snack size utensils. He then worked on creating a spoon which fits into the Legendary Foods lid. For prototyping, 3D printing was the obvious solution.

CoCreateX believes that “the strength of the community depends on us all sharing our talents and helping out where we can.” If you’re not truly inspired by their mission yet, head over to the CoCreateX website to find out more.
