Desktop Metal is now accepting international pre-orders for their metal end-to-end 3D printing Studio System. 

Following widespread interest from manufacturers, Desktop Metal has now announced that they’ll be accepting pre-orders internationally for the ‘Studio System,’ their metal 3D printing system.

Desktop Metal, based in Burlington, Massachusetts, is making their newest technology available to international resellers in mid-2018.

Companies throughout Europe, Asia Pacific, Canada, and Mexico will be able to take pre-orders for mid-2018. However, customers in the U.S. will start receiving their orders within the next few weeks.

The Studio System is made up of several parts: 3D printer, debinder, and sintering furnace. As such, it promises a software controlled workflow, which is more precise because the machines were designed to work together.

“Our vision is to make our Desktop Metal 3D printing solutions accessible to engineers and manufacturers around the world… We plan to begin offering our metal 3D printing technology internationally and will be accelerating production to meet worldwide demand first for our Studio System™ and later for our Production System,” explains Ric Fulop, CEO, and co-founder of Desktop Metal.

The company was founded in 2015 and since has raised an incredible $212 million in financing. Now, strategic partners around the world are impatient to get their hands on the Studio System.

The Studio System launched in May 2017. Desktop Metal claims it’s 10 times cheaper than any technology that exists today. Apparently, it’s the first metal 3D printing system that is both office-friendly or ideal for use in a shop.

Naturally, applications for this technology are extremely diverse. They range from automotive and aerospace industries to research and education.

Desktop Metal says they are committed to bringing metal 3D printing technology to engineers and manufacturers. For now, however, they are relying on their international strategic partnerships.

“Our partnerships with best-in-class resellers in each of these regions bring us closer to making metal 3D printing solutions available to all who want to realize the benefits of rapid prototyping and mass production of metal parts. We are excited to see what happens next in manufacturing as we welcome these new countries to our landscape,” continues Fulop.

Across the EU, there will be a total of 16 partners that are Studio System authorized international resellers. These include LaserLines and Tritech 3D from the UK and two of Stratasys’ leading European premier partners, Germany’s Alphacam and France’s CADvision.

As a result, pre-selling of the Studio System will start in Germany, Italy, the United Kingdom, France and Spain. In the future, they will expand to other countries in the EU as well as Asia Pacific. However, availability will vary by country.
