The Lego Mindstorms kits contain everything you need to build and program a minimalistic robot: a programmable computer brick, an easy to learn programming language, various sensors (touch, light, ultrasonic and color sensors). The latest release, Mindstorms EV3, even includes a remote control. There is a broad selection of accessories to refine the robots built from the Mindstorms system including some camera subsystems. Lego’s camera is an ordinary webcam (the Logitech Quickcam) that, however, pales in comparison to a GoPro camera.

The only problem with using GoPro cameras in combination with a Mindstorms robot: It is difficult to fasten the camera to the robot. Or better said: It WAS difficult – before designer Mamiot introduced his GoPro Mount for Lego Mindstorms that makes POV video footage from custom-built robots feasible.

This 55 x 55 x 35mm brick fixes a GoPro firmly to a Lego Robot (or any construction made of Lego bricks).GoPro Mount Marc 1,5 is available from Sculpteo in plastic and resin in various colors; prices start at $17.
