Too busy to spend time with your mom this Mother’s Day? Groupon to the rescue with a 3D printed life-size replacement for only $30,000 bucks.

Groupon is running a fantastic promotion for Mother’s Day this year, where you can 3D print a 1:1 scale version of yourself for a paltry $30,000 dollars.

According to the offer listing on their site: ”Unlike busy adult children, life-sized 3D printed models do not have hectic schedules. That means they’re there when Mom needs them most: all the time.”

This luxury gift is 3D printed by the largest printer on the market, the BigRep ONE distributed by SWIGRO, which is the only device capable of recreating an entire person in detail.

Groupon said: “Best of all, this reverse Dorian Gray never ages and never stops smiling, even when it’s watching your mother’s favorite tearjerker or spending the night stashed in the broom closet.”

Groupon wants you to Call your Mother

Bill Roberts, head of global communication for Groupon, explained the crazy concept to Adweek:

“We’re big on unique gifts for big holidays. Last year for Mother’s Day, we featured a surrogate son, and we’ve also offered other bespoke experiences and items found only on Groupon, including the ability to deliver a Jumbotron for a Valentine’s Day proposal and embark on a voyage to the sunken Titanic.”

Although the price tag may seem a bit much, Swigro president Renato Gross explained: “3D printing takes a lot of effort. There’s scanning the person and processing the data. It’s quite a large print and costly to do it.”

However, this may not be the best present for anyone hoping for a gift for this Sunday, as the whole process of 3D printing a human scale replica is pretty slow.

According to Gross, it can take more than a week to print a person. “It’s a big print. Of course, it depends on the size of the person. If they’re skinny, it’ll be a lot faster than if we’re printing a person the size of the Rock.”

However, whether you’re likely or not to make this expensive purchase, Roberts says: “Depends on how much you love your mom, I guess.”
