On display in New York is Gulliver’s Gate, a huge miniature made up of hundreds of landmarks created by model makers from across the globe.

Have you always wanted to see the world? Eiran Gazit plans to help you do just that but in an unconventional way.

Gazit is a specialist in model-based tourist attractions. Back in 2014, he launched a Kickstarter campaign for a miniature world. He raised $21,642. Since then, he has been working with investors to develop his latest exhibition, called Gulliver’s Gate.

The miniature model is showing hundreds of landmarks from around the world. The model cost an eye-watering $40 million and is already drawing a lot of attention.

It is currently exhibited in Times Square in New York City.

Most interestingly, however, is the process of making the models. Gazit hired professional model makers from across the world to help realize his project. Teams in each country were then in charge of making their local landmarks.

The final gate includes miniatures which are made using both traditional methods, as well as modern technologies such as 3D printing. Anyone with a keen eye can visit and try to decipher which models were 3D printed.

The Inspiration Behind Gulliver’s Gate

The model is on display in a room which spans a full city block. The attraction will open on May 9th and visitors will be able to spot everything from the Eiffel Tower to the Taj Mahal.

The models are built to the standard train-model scale of 1:87. Along with the various landmarks, there are also many trains as well as planes and even a functioning airport. Around 100,000 miniature people also adorn the miniature land.

If you want to get involved, you’ll be interested to hear that visitors can choose to be 3D scanned and printed themselves. Then, a miniature model of yourself will be immortalized in Gulliver’s Gate. However, this will cost you $44.

There are many interactive areas to explore, for example, to find out more about an area, visitors can simply use an interactive panel by inserting a key.

As well as this, on display is the computer command center that controls and monitors the whole exhibition. Guests are even able to speak to model makers and enjoy workshops.
