Later this week, Odo Fioravanti ’s 3D printed clutch inspired by Switzerland’s capital city will be launched at Maison et Objet in Paris.
Compared to Paris and Rome, Bern may not be the most beautiful European capital city. But it has an unique urban structure that has inspired designer Odo Fioravanti to create an equally unique clutch bag.
The 3D printed clutch is part of the Bern collection for Maison 203. Fioravanti‘s design has rounded, curved layers of nylon fabricated with selective laser sintering (SLS). This design choice is influenced by the bending and parallel streets of Bern.
If you’re interested in this item, Fioravanti’s clutch will be available in black, copper, and gold. The size of the 3D print is 21 x 16 x 6 cm. We’re sure it also makes a great talking piece at any event.
A series of blades give the clutch its unique appearance. They also work by creating an interesting optical effect which gives the clutch and ever-changing appearance, all depending on where the viewer is standing.
The blades of the clutch appear to stem from the circular central point and multiply to create a finished design. The point of the clutch is to mimic the seemingly matching set of buildings in Bern. These blades also create a uniform structure.
A thin metal chain is included in the design so the clutch can also be worn over your shoulder.
As well as this clutch, Fioravanti has also designed others items bearing the same name. These accessories include a necklace, bracelet, two sets of earrings and cuff links.
If you happen to be in Paris this month, you’re in luck. The clutch will be on display at the Masion et Objet in Paris between 20 – 24 January. The mini 3D printed clutch is certainly a work of art worth seeing for yourself.
