Do you have hundreds of ideas of how to improve your Parrot drone, but no one ever listens to you? Check out this new competition from MyMiniFactory.

MyMiniFactory is working in collaboration with Parrot to invite 3D designers to submit ideas for accessories to improve the new range of Parrot drones.

The winners will receive up to $2,000 worth of prizes, the chance to have their 3D printable product sold in the official Parrot store… and the chance to work with the Parrot design team, too!

MyMiniFactory state: “After the launch of their latest Minidrones & Bebop range, Parrot are looking to you, our awesome design community, to create exciting and innovative add-ons to compliment their range.”

If you’re interested in participating, then make sure to visit the competition page and upload your own STL files for any 3D printable drone add-ons between January 26th and February 16th.

Contest Guidelines: Don’t Break the Parrot Drone

To determine the winners, Parrot will choose those with the most likes on their design, as well as three additional winners who will be chosen based on their commercial viability.

The most popular STL models will also be available to download for free, so you can 3D print them at home and test out these “improvements” on your own Parrot drone!

Guidelines for what Parrot are looking for include; a fully conceived project with a story to tell, creative designs that best compliment each drone, and — most importantly — designs that do not compromise functionality. It wouldn’t do to have Parrot drones suddenly dropping out of the sky.

The contest is also encouraging designers to think about the carry weight, balance and positioning, structural integrity, and any secure and easy ways to attach to the drone.

If you’re hoping to win, your designs should be as original as possible, but if you’re stuck for a place to start, then MyMiniFactory has provided useful drone design templates and different helpful designer tools.

Don’t worry if you want to be in on the action but your design skills aren’t up to scratch, just make sure to vote between February 24th and the March 11th.
