Maker Sexy Cyborb has created another masterpiece — the “Pi-Palette” is a “pentesting computer” hidden away in a cosmetic case.

Sexy Cyborg, aka Naomi Wu, has over 10,000 subscribers on YouTube and has previously completed projects such as the Infinity Skirt. Her latest project is a follow-up to the Wu Ying Pentesting Heels.

This time, the maker has used a Raspberry Pi 3 in a 3D printed enclosure. She manages to disguise the single board computer as a makeup palette. Wu also created a detailed YouTube video or you can check out her Thingiverse post.

She said on her imgur post:

As with all my projects, one of the primary goals was to make sure it was reproducible by people like myself with only basic technical skills. The only thing better than showing off what you can make, is showing that anyone can make it.”

Features of Sexy Cyborg’s Pi-Palette

For the enclosure of the makeup palette, Sexy Cyborg used a 3D printer. She printed the case in PLA at .2mm layer height. Using TinkerCAD, she designed and printed a functional cosmetic case.

As disguise, Wu uses a 5in, 800×480 “smart mirror” type display in portrait orientation. It also has optional touchscreen capability. Makeup trays can be 3D printed to accommodate most major brands of cosmetic pots.

To remove makeup from its original casing, Wu suggests using a 3D printer bed set to 90ºC. This will soften the glue allowing the makeup to be pulled out. She warns: “Practice on cheap stuff first though.”

The makeup tray can then be inserted into the Pi Palette. For the Pi Palette itself, Wu runs a pentesting (hacking) distribution.

She points out that although the size could be reduced, it would require more delicate work with costly mistakes. But it could be done by removing the plugs and jacks entirely and soldering directly to the PCBs.

Wu added:

Using the Pi Zero is also an option but processing power and usability would take a significant hit. The Raspberry Pi 3 is, for most purposes a fully functional computer and generally as quick as a low-end laptop for any reasonable tasks. I didn’t really want to sacrifice that.”
