Sony Mobile and PostNord Group are working together to make the 3D market accessible to both businesses and consumers. The first stage is enabling customers to print models from the Sony Mobile app which are then distributed by PostNord.

The latest company to identify the huge potential of 3D printing is PostNord Group. The company is a supplier of communication and logistics solutions in the Nordic area. They are now teaming up with Sony Mobile to work on all things 3D.

By working together, the companies can provide customers with personalized 3D models which are printed directly from the Sony Mobile app, 3D Creator, which has previously been reviewed on All3DP. PostNord then distributes the prints.

The decision to pair up came from the fact that the Nordic company identified 3D printing as a disruptive technology and hopes to make it more accessible to both businesses and consumers.

Working Together Means Sharing Strengths

Thanks to this pairing, Sony Mobile can provide PostNord with the technology and experience in the 3D field. Meanwhile, PostNord offers a diverse customer base but also knowledge in the logistics and communications market.

“We are very excited about working with PostNord, that with its broad service portfolio, can handle the complete supply chain, from digital 3D file in the phone, to 3D-printing and distribution to consumers,” says Lars Novak from Sony Mobile.

By using the 3D Creator app scanner to capture an object, a customer can create a 3D model, ready to print. PostNord Strålfors will print the 3D scans in color with Stratasys J750. PostNord also distributes the prints too.
