At CES 2017, XYZprinting introduced its new da Vinci Nano 3D printer, adding another affordable and portable 3D printer to the market.
XYZprinting is known for its low-cost proprietary 3D printers, that cover a lot of needs from dedicated kids 3D printers to semi-pro models. At CES 2017, the company introduced a portable 3D printer with the recommended retail price of just $230.
The company has been making affordable printers for some time. One of the most successful models was the da Vinci Mini Jr. under $300. Although the new printer is aimed at people who are new to 3D printing, the company promises it isn’t compromising on features.
XYZprinting points out that they intend on offering a high-quality product with a cheap price tag. But will it be worth the money or should you buy another budget 3D printer? Sadly, the da Vinci Mini Nano won’t be available until later this year but time will tell whether it makes the cut.
XYZprinting previewed the printer at “CES’s Unveiled” show on January 3rd and at Pepcom on January 4th. Here, they offered a glimpse at their new awaited line of 3D printers. Along with the da Vinci Nano, XYZprinting is also offering the da Vinci Junior 2.0 Mix, and the SLA 3D Printer “Nobel Superfine”.
The da Vinci Nano is XYZprinting’s most compact 3D printer yet and is could be a good choice for first-time users. Features which are aimed at those just starting out include a one-button printing process.
It has a weight of 9 pounds and a build size of 4.7″ x 4.7″ x 4.7″. So it’s smaller than its brother, the da Vinci Mini (5.9″ x 5.9″ x 5.9″). The printer is said to be a plug-and-play 3D printer. This means no drivers for Windows 10 PC users need to be installed. Hopefully, this should make the printer easier for new makers to get up and running. As well as this, the printer also features auto calibration and auto leveling to help make printing easier. Please be aware that this 3D printer also uses proprietary filament cartridges.
Although the da Vinci Nano won’t hit retailers until April 2017, it may be worth keeping in mind if you’re looking for a budget printer. However, in the meantime, check out All3DP’s list of some of the best budget printers on the market.
