V-Moda has unveiled Remix, their first hybrid Bluetooth speaker and headphones amplifier. Using 3D printing technology, the Remix is also completely customizable.

Looking for a wireless way to amplify your favorite tunes? Well, the latest release from the high-end audio design and production company V-Moda might be music to your ears.

The California sound pioneers have just unveiled the Remix, their first-ever Bluetooth speaker. The device doubles as a headphones amplifier, and also offers customizable 3D printed parts.

Measuring just 8 inches long, the Remix features two powerful 10-watt speakers. The speakers include a glass-fiber diaphragm, rear-mounted bass reflex port, as well as V-Moda’s renowned Vamp headphones amplifier.

Even more impressively, the built-in microphone enables an unlimited number of Remixes to connect together. Powered by a USB-C, the battery life of the Bluetooth speaker lasts about 10 hours. The Remix comes in two factory finishes — aluminum or vegan leather — but the ability to add 3D printed components is where customization truly comes into play.

V-Moda is offering a number of professionally 3D printed parts to make each Remix completely personalized.

You can customize the sides and also the grills of your speaker with a wide range of 3D printing materials. Options include precious metals, raw and gold-plated metals, stainless steel, and nine vibrant colors of fiber material.

V-Moda’s studio in Milan is where each 3D printed part is digitally “sculpted.” From there, the customized parts are printed and hand-polished in New York City.

The speaker itself costs $300, but additional customization ranges anywhere from $40 to $370,000 (for platinum plating).

V-Moda Remix is a Bluetooth Speaker You Can Truly Make Your Own

While 3D printing is clearly playing a major role in the company’s first Bluetooth speaker, V-Moda is well-seasoned when it comes to additive manufacturing.

Last year, they released new earbuds equipped with metal 3D printed lion heads. Additionally, V-Moda allows you to personalize their “XS” and “Crossfade M-100” headphones with 3D printed shields.

In a statement released by Val Kolton, V-Moda’s founder and CEO, he displayed unbridled optimism about the future of 3D customization:

“One day, this level of module plus 3D customization will be everywhere you look: electric self-driving vehicles, entire homes, living rooms, kitchens, computers and even ‘Westworld’-like humanoid robots. This is just the very beginning and I am amped to celebrate the ground-breaking start of this revolution of manufacturing.”

Needless to say, incorporating additive manufacturing into their production process is an obvious aim for V-Moda. For the Remix Bluetooth speaker, it’s all about customization, and 3D printing is clearly the best way to achieve that.
