The platform for 3D printing designers recently launched out a revamped version that adds exciting new features for creatives.

Vectary, the site for 3D modeling enthusiasts, has just announced an update to its platform. The free online 3D modeling tool allows anyone to turn their ideas into reality. For more advanced designers there’s the option to purchase premium user plans to expand the number of projects they can create and gain access to additional tools and functions.

On Vectary, designs are shared publicly under the Creative Commons “Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike” license. This lets users share and mix up their designs as long as they reference the original creators.

With Vectary 2.0, users are about to experience a whole new look and better accessibility options. The dashboard provides simplified access to previously stored designs via the ‘Old’ tab. However, designers will have to save and export them as .obj in order to transfer them over into a new Vectary project.

Drag and Drop and Real-time Rendering

Originally founded in 2014 by 3D print creators, the company raised $2.5 million to expand its platform in 2016.

Michal Koor, CEO and co-founder of the company, previously said:

“While working as an industrial designer I wanted to make designing more effective. This led me to rather invest my time into developing a parametric tool, where by moving sliders I was able to easily change shape and get interactive feedback. Later I realized, this approach combined with community would make it much easier for anybody to start with 3D modeling.”

Vectary 2.0 now includes the option to simply drag and drop created 3D designs. In addition, designers can collaborate with others in real-time on a 3D scene. According to the company, “each 3D scene works like a shared online document where multiple users edit the design and write feedback in real time.”

The site also added real-time rendering to its features.

To get started, creatives can browse through the template library which offers pre-rendered objects, textures and lights. Take a look and then get creative.
