There are so many great 3D printable designs for Overwatch enthusiasts. This one takes it a bit further by making Mercy’s Staff actually functional.
Overwatch is insanely popular: Blizzard’s team shooter just passed 25 million player milestone. Also, it’s becoming increasingly popular with cosplayers. Here‘s where 3D printing helps – it’s easier than ever to print the parts of your costume or have them printed at a relatively low price.

Engineer_Corwin (“3D printing, Arduino, Raspberry Pi, Esquillo: You got my attention now”) wanted to 3D print Mercy’s Caduceus staff. He took existing 3D print models made by Jill Cope and spiced up the design by adding motors and electronics. Thanks to the motor and a set of gears, the staff’s parts spin just like Mercy’s staff in the game. He modeled all mechanical parts in Autodesk Inventor and Fusion 360 – the whole project took him around 6-7 months development time.
The result looks just stunning, as you can see in the video below.
Corwin shared the design and building instructions in Instructables (“Mercy’s staff with adjustable Winglets”).
If you choose to build you own copy of Mercy’s Caduceus Staff, you should considerable experience in building things. You also need a motor, some nuts and bolts, screws, 10 magnets and some wires.
The parts are not easy to 3D print. Plan for 4 days (96 hours) of 3D printing with the settings listed in Corwin’s Instructable. After sanding and polishing the 3D printed parts, you’ll have to assemble the staff – add an additional day. Wiring is easy, as is the painting of the staff. It’s battery powered by 4 C-cell batteries.
