The Zortrax Inventure is a new dual extrusion 3D printer that is both intelligent and accessible. This Polish 3D printer includes a Dissolvable Support System Station and a completely enclosed and stable heated print chamber.
The emergence of desktop 3D printing has opened up a whole new world of creative possibilities to the average person. However, there are still a number of limitations that have stunted the technology’s growth for the time being. The Polish 3D printer manufacturer Zortrax is aiming to break some of these barriers with the new Zortrax Inventure 3D printer.
Zortrax has taken its Layer Plastic Deposition (LPD) technology back to the drawing board and improved it even further. The result of the company’s work is the Zortrax Inventure, the first 3D printer that uses LPD Plus technology.
The Zortrax Inventure includes two extruders, one for standard 3D printing filaments and another for support material. Both extruders are able to calibrate down to 0.01 mm on all three axises, providing impeccable dimensional accuracy. There’s also built-in automated systems that keep the nozzles clean, adding to the automated nature that this intriguing 3D printer abundantly provides.
But what really makes the Zortrax unique is two particular aspects; the Dissolvable Support System technology and completely enclosed and stable heated print chamber.
Zortrax Inventure: Taking Care of Support Structures for You
One of the most impressive features of the Zortrax Inventure 3D printer is the Dissolvable Support System (DSS). The technology is based on an easily removable support material called Z-SUPPORT, a proprietary filament made from a soluble substance.
After the Zortrax Inventure is finished printing, the user can place their model in the water-filled DSS station. The Z-SUPPORT material is effectively removed from the 3D model, leaving an incredibly smooth and flawless surface.
With the DSS station and Z-SUPPORT filament, Zortrax has managed to eliminate the need for manual support removal. Not only does this make post-processing easier for the user, it also ensures that the surface of your 3D print will be exceptionally smooth.
This simple chemical process is especially useful for small and precise 3D models, which oftentimes require surgical precision to properly remove support structures. Generally, when supports are inserted into tight and hard-to-reach spots, it makes it difficult to successfully produce moving mechanisms like spinning wheels or gears. But with the water circulated in the DSS Station, even the most inaccessible support structures will be totally dissolved.
The Z-SUPPORT material comes available in a proprietary cartridge, and can be 3D printed with either Z-PETG and Z-PLA. But most importantly, without having to pull away at pesky support structures, the DSS Staton gives you more time to create and innovate.
In fact, the DSS technique allows user to think outside of the X and Y axis. The easily dissolvable support structure makes it easy to stack 3D models and fill the entire working space.
The Zortrax Inventure and DSS pack is available for €3,149. The package comes with the Zortrax Inventure 3D printer, the DSS Station, two cartridges of material, Z-Suite software, and more.
Zortrax Inventure: A Step Inside the Stable Heated Chamber
Unlike other 3D printer manufacturers, Zortrax takes immense pride in providing a stable environment for ABS material. The heated chamber inside of the Zortrax Inventure is optimal for 3D printing with this fickle filament type.
When using your standard FDM or LPD 3D printer, ABS-based materials oftentimes shrink around 8 percent after printing is complete. However, since the printing chamber is sealed off from the surrounding environment, the Zortrax Inventure is able to 3D print ABS without any shrinkage transpiring.
This tightly enclosed 3D printing environment gives the user full control over the temperature, which remains stable throughout the entire process. When using the Zortrax Inventure to print ABS, the heating chamber reduces the risk of warping and part deformation. In fact, the Zortrax team guarantees that the fully enclosed print area offers nearly perfect dimensional accuracy.
The Zortrax Inventure 3D printer will cost 2699 EUR on its own, while the Zortrax Inventure and DSS Station are available as a package for 3149 EUR.
