Check Out PrusaSlicer’s New Organic Support Structures

A Reddit post this week reveals a bit more information about the impending release of a tentacle-like “organic support” setting for Prusa Research’s PrusaSlicer 2.6. The setting was revealed last week on an episode of the Prusa Live podcast (embedded below) and will undoubtedly be popular among the slicing software’s users.

Organic support seems to be a take on – if not an evolution of – Ultimaker Cura’s tree support setting. It’s worth mentioning that a tree support setting is also available in PrusaSlicer. Organic supports, however, seem to use less material and appear to be much easier to remove – meaning it would be possible to print increasingly complex models on an FDM 3D printer.

While there is no solid information regarding an exact drop date for PrusaSlicer 2.6, a tweet from Josef Prusa links to several pre-sliced G-codes for the MK3, enabling users with the printer to try out organic supports before their official release.
