RatRig is aware of a cyberattack and security breath on its webstore, the OEM announced via email today.

The matter, during which “malware attempted to intercept user data”, is now resolved, RatRig says. The company has also taken steps to increase its cybersecurity defenses and has reported the incident to the Comissão Nacional de Protecção de Dados – the authoritative body for data protection in Portugal, where RatRig is headquartered.

From RatRig:

What Happened?
  • A security breach was detected in our webstore, where malware attempted to intercept user data.
  • As soon as we identified the issue, we took immediate action to remove the malware and secure our platform.
  • The external company that audited, cleaned, and patched our platform could not find any evidence of payment details being leaked, since all payments are handled directly by PayPal’s secure system, and our store does not store credit card details.

What Could Be at Risk?

  • Account information (emails, names, addresses, phone numbers) if entered during checkout or account registration.
  • No financial data should have been exposed as payments are processed entirely through PayPal.

No financial information such as banking details are at risk. However, user account information – including emails, names, addresses, and phone numbers – may have been leaked. As such, RatRig recommends users change their passwords, check their PayPal accounts for irregularities, and remain on alert for potential phishing attempts.

Should you be using a shared password, now would also be a good time to change it on other websites. Those with additional questions or concerns should contact sales@ratrig.com.
